The William and Mary style of furniture was popular between 1695 to 1720s. The design was named after the Dutch King & Queen who ruled England from 1689 to 1694. They brought with them Flemish, Dutch, Chinese & French design influences that were lighter and more versatile. It was in stark contrast to the heavy Jacobean style of furniture from the time of King James II. These furniture pieces were a symbol of comfort and luxury and became very popular.
Our comfortable sofa is double caned on the sides and has intricate hand-carved details that exudes subtle luxury. The sofa has gated-legs, a popular design usually reserved for tables, gives this sofa a unique yet classic look.
